About Augusta Surfaces
Augusta Surfaces is headquartered in Waynesboro, Virginia and ships solid hardwood butcher blocks directly to our customers nationwide. Supported by our family of sawmills and lumber yards, we’ve been making quality surfaces from American hardwoods for over 30 years.
A Solid Choice
Our surfaces are built to last. Sawn primarily from timber that’s unique to the Appalachian region, then put through an exacting manufacturing process to ensure the highest quality, our butcher blocks radiate richness and natural warmth while standing up to the wear and tear of the toughest workspaces. Whether it’s a kitchen island or countertop, bartop, workbench, or tabletop, Augusta Surfaces provides the Solid Choice.
Our Process and Supply Chain
At Augusta Surfaces, our supply chain is streamlined – from standing timber to the manufacturing and shipment. That means our customers can rest assured that we source our materials sustainably, we construct our butcher blocks with care, and we price our products competitively.
We harvest timber generally within 100 miles of the sawmills that supply our manufacturing facilities in Waynesboro, Virginia. Then we make all Augusta Surfaces products right here, in the Shenandoah Valley.
We take care to control lumber quality and stability using state-of-the-art equipment to ensure our wood is sound and without visual imperfections, ultimately providing the look and performance our discerning customers expect.
Finally we wrap our butcher blocks in custom-designed packaging during shipping to ensure the product you receive at home maintains off-the-sander quality.
Sustainable by Nature
As a vertically-integrated company, Augusta Surfaces is among the most sustainable choices for butcher blocks and hardwood surfaces. Hardwood is sustainable by nature and so is our manufacturing process. Nothing is wasted, not even manufacturing residues: we use them to fire our boilers and dry our wood. Optimizing material use and minimizing waste is not just good for the valley we call home, it’s also good for business and our customers’ peace of mind.
Another benefit of our localized supply chain: much of the manufacturing process takes place at a single location. This cuts down on fuel use, carbon footprint, and lead time. We pack and ship our surfaces once — and make them directly available to our customers in a reasonable timeframe.
Industry Involvement
Augusta Surfaces is committed to advancing the hardwood industry and supporting our environment. As such, we’re a proud member and certificate holder of the following organizations.
